Good morning
Beautiful day on the ocean, come to FLA!
@@AskCaptainChris if i get the boat right and can make the time, she might be in hobe sound this winter
@@walterdavis4808 You'll pass by us in Vero Beach on the way to Hobe Sound.
@AskCaptainChris ill stop by ,!
@@walterdavis4808definitely do.
I honestly did not know you could come in to Ft Lauderdale and not have to wait on a cruise ship to maneuver to leave.
They arrive in the evening and leave in the morning, middle of the day is no problem.
Dates for your diesel maint course? Cost?
Thanks for your call. Here’s a link to the course outlines and upcoming dates. www.captainchrisshipstore.com/ and you can always do FaceTime or a private course. Hope to see you soon.
😃
Good morning
Good morning and let’s hope you don’t need your lifejacket today.
@AskCaptainChris funny you should say that .... on the list of things to do is take a small john boat to clean out a blocked drain in a detention pond that is over flowing !
@@walterdavis4808 that would really be yucky to fall in that. Watch out for snapper turtles and snakes.
@@AskCaptainChris it went pretty smoothly
@@walterdavis4808 👍🏼
Good morning , thats a nice clean space .
Morning from Stuart once again, different boat. Agree- clean engine space. Clean makes it easier to see any issues.
Fenders are good…..Even better when they’re deployed a few minutes before you need them….
buy a $3 wrench dont use gauge to do that ...
The gauge belongs there and that’s all the tools we had aboard because the client just bought the boat. Yup. Needed a few more trips to Harbor Freight.
Thanks. Like 8
Good morning. How high does that open for boat traffic?
About 20 feet. Good morning too.
@@AskCaptainChris hummm. Not sail boat friendly !
If it's a lock, it only seems to have 1 door. Upstream traffic will shoot through when it opens like water down a drain. Wear your life vest.
That’s a flood gate. And you should always wear your LJ going through locks.
Stargazer looks like a Mainship 34 Pilot.
Good morning. Nice little 3 cylinder deisle .
Yes. Northern Lights is the brand. And good morning back atcha.
Looks like you can get to most of it to service.
Everything except the exhaust elbow on the back side. These are great machines and have more copper than most other generators.
I just noticed the blue tab. What happens if I don’t pull that up?
Then the needle won’t move accurately. That’s a shipping wedge.
Good morning ,
Good afternoon from Stuart. Last minute call to help a new owner learn below deck systems.
Nice looking Boat, love this style 👌
Welcome back Smokey, we missed you, hope all is well!
@AskCaptainChris Thank you. I always watch, just haven't been commenting. They have us on 4-10s. I have to leave at 5:30 a.m.
@@alabamasmokeywilson6818 yikes. That o’dark thirty for sure!! But it must be nice to have that extra day off each week. Say hi to Shortster.
I can spot KK, Fleming, and Nordhaven boats from a mile away. Deep down, I think it's because I'm jealous and I know I'll never own one.
Keep dreaming and buy lottery tickets. We WON $2 last week. Trying for a bigger payout!
A dollar and a dream !
That Krogan 52 is a nice looking boat. I like how the bow swoops up. Probably handles the ocean pretty well.
Yes it does. 👍🏼
Chris knows EVERYONE at the Ft Pierce Marina.
My home stomping grounds, just a few miles south of Vero Beach.
Looks like a great place to be. Wish i was retired lol
Take vacation and come to FL.
Good morning
Yes it is, we love our cool FL mornings. It was down to 75 under our palm trees!
@AskCaptainChris i had to go home . There was a really bad thunder storm that took out the power for the next few days .... one of the kids filled the generator with heating oil ... it runs on gas . now im fixing it.
@@walterdavis4808 Is your heating oil kerosene or diesel? Is it stored in a yellow or orange jug. At least nothing blew up. I assume the gas engine will smoke for a while.
@AskCaptainChris it was in an old gas can labled " waste oil " . Generator is running now , im onto the lawn mower now
@@walterdavis4808good job Macgyver!
Good morning
CBD and I do not mean hemp oil!
@AskCaptainChris every day im a day closer to the water !
Welcome to the Palm Beaches!
I love your videos. I am a captain myself learning the ICW and seas. You have been very helpful. Keep it up Captain and thanks.
Thanks for watching. Glad to be helpful.
Where is this marina in Pawley's Island? I've spent many of weeks there and I know the marinas in Murrell's Inlet and Georgetown. I agree with on the bow line, I can make a twin screw boat "dance" in any conditions.
I think this was a Safe Harbor Marina.
@@AskCaptainChris So in Charleston, SC?
@@jeffreypinder9398it’s a town called Pawleys Island SC on the Waccamaw River north of Georgetown.
@@AskCaptainChris I stand corrected, it's Safe Harbor Preserve.
Good information excellent video. Thanks Captain Chris
Thank you. I enjoy sharing everything I see during a regular day's work on other peoples boats. I get to explore.
Not turning off the AIS just creates a bunch of useless clutter, if you are not underway.
I agree and it gets worse everyday. Some waterway channels are polluted with AIS ICONS and you may not see the ATONs on the chartplotter. When you tie up the boat and go home TURN OFF THE AIS so others can see.
We enjoy these NYS canals
We do too.
What about wake next to floating dredge lines Capt'n?
We were traveling at idle speed. The dredge system was fine.
Good morning .
Great day, orange sunrise and promise of afternoon rain!
BEST time to dock, at SUNSET....DEAD CALM! Same for daybreak. Only other thing of concern is current.
If you are lucky enough….👍🏼
Good morning. Guy did good !
Slow and easy. Looks like he has done this before?
Good morning
Another beautiful day here in Vero Beach. That storm off the North FL and GA coast seems to leave us alone and head away from us. YEAH!
@AskCaptainChris still hitting the hay fields , once im done its boat life !
@@walterdavis4808 are you ever done with the crops in the fields? Lucille? (Sorry. I got carried away on that one )
@AskCaptainChris yea. By the first week of july i should be finishing up
Good morning. I grew up with boats with wet exhausts. When i was a kid and saw the movie jaws , i thought the dry exhaust on the orca was really cool ! But now , a bit older and wiser. I'll stick to the wet exhaust
I agree.
Really helpful thanks! 👍🏻
Good morning
Morning from sunny and dry Vero Beach. Looks like we are gonna dodge another one.
2 straight”Nordhavn” days--
Thought you might like this. Two different ones -a 40 and a 47.
@@AskCaptainChris you worked aboard both?
Yup. I’ve worked aboard numerous different Nordhavns…. They just weren’t one day apart 😎
With a direction of those gusts , he could’ve slightly overshot and reversed on his port engine only…decent even with that little midship smooch .
Good morning that boat has a lot going on !
A forty footer with paravanes (aka Fish, Birds, downriggers, Deltas) just like we saw on the TV show deadliest catch.
@AskCaptainChris i was thinking , when everything else is done on my boat , setting it up as an off shore sport fishing boat . Be the first ketch rigged tornament boat
@@walterdavis4808 I understand not making it a Yawl because of the fishing lines BUT what about a schooner?
@AskCaptainChris that kind what it looks like . Its 50 foot full displacement hull, 2 masts with between 5 in the stern and 7 at the bow of free board
Two hands on the throttles in the first 10 seconds 😬
Nice job Captain
Nordhavn?
Brand name for a high end ocean crossing trawler. Very popular.
@@AskCaptainChris Yep. Very familiar with Nordhavn.
To bad it doesn't have diesel engines
Thanks - got one of these in my new-to-me boat and it’s not wired up. Very helpful. Looks like atf in there.
If its Bennett then it must be ATF. Read the tag on the white container for details.
Man amateur hour. 😂😂
It would take a pretty high barrier to keep those big tires from running over it. The ones I have seen are only an inch or so high, and I think they're there more for a visual guide for the operator than axually keeping the tire physically constrained.
Good morning
Back atcha. We’re back to sunny Florida again. Watching the invests in the gulf and off the Florida coast.
Health and safety. Single mother.
When did they ask you for a risk assessment 🤔 Mr health and safety.
If you haven’t figured it out then I will help you…our channel is all about boating safety. Ask Captain Chris. I’m asked all the time by clients.
How much would it cost to put some steel down, living on the edge, nice 😂
More curious what the insurance company requires?
